Move in this summer at Waterclub, GTHBA Community of the Year
May 30, 2005

On May 6th, Kolter Communities' (formerly Kolter Property Company) central waterfront condominium neighbourhood Waterclub was named Community of the Year by the Greater Toronto Home Builders' Association. This pinnacle award recognizes the combination of innovative community design, architectural features, outstanding streetscapes and amenities that enhance the quality of life for owners. Waterclub spans an entire city block on Queen's Quay West at the foot of York Street, where the lakeside lifestyle attracts a spectrum of homeowners who enjoy true resort living in outstanding surroundings.

The three striking curvilinear glass and aluminum towers that comprise Waterclub are designed by Kirkor Architects & Planners, who share the award with Kolter. These towers encompass nearly 1,200 suites in total, and the neighbourhood is characterized by a two-tiered cascading waterfall and lit colonnade-style walkways that house the retail stores. Buildings are positioned so that suites (most with balconies or terraces) afford owners breathtaking lake and/or city views through expansive windows. The joint East and South tower lobby with its 24-hour concierge service encompasses an inviting fireplace and a soothing aquarium adjacent to the guest seating. The lobby of W-3, the third tower, has its own 24-hour concierge and aquarium.

Waterclub's lakeside location inspired Kolter's concept of part ownership in two keel sailboats moored in nearby slips, providing suite owners with the opportunity to enjoy sailing without needing to own their own boat. Residents live steps from Toronto's exciting cultural, shopping, theatre and recreational venues, and Waterclub's commercial space now includes high-end amenities such as International News, Starbucks, Baskin-Robbins, Quiznos, a pharmacy and doctors' offices. Proximity to so many amenities and the fact that public transportation is at the doorstep mean that Waterclub residents can live comfortably without owning a vehicle.

Suite owners also enjoy many of the privileges found at a private club or resort. Opened in the summer of 2004, Water Club is the health and recreation amenities centre that caters to the health-conscious, luxury-loving residents. This innovative amenities area is located on the second and third levels between the East and South towers, where windows and outdoor space make the most of city and lake views in this bright, inviting space.

The indoor/outdoor pool with large lakeside terrace is geared to year-round use. A sleek, modern juice bar overlooks the pool area, as does the fully equipped exercise room with its wall of windows. On the second level, residents have access to the billiards/media room, a spa area, the co-ed steam room and men's and women's lockers.

On the third level, there is a large party room, a boardroom/dining room, and a landscaped barbecue terrace overlooking the lake.
