Great Gulf Homes and the Barclay-Grayson Group are ready to break ground for the popular Hudson condominium project at King Street and Spadina Avenue. It is already 65 per cent sold.
"This building has amazing architecture and interior design, with the double-height lobby measuring 16 feet," says Gary Switzer, executive vice-president of sales and marketing for Great Gulf.
Interiors have been designed by Brian Gluckstein Design Planning Inc. and Diamond and Schmitt Architects Inc., he notes, adding that the architectural firm has won several Governor-General's Awards.
The 21-storey condominium offers one-bedrooms, one-bedrooms with dens, two-bedrooms, two-bedrooms with terraces and two-bedroom penthouse suites. Prices start at $177,900.
Each suite includes a Gluckstein-designed gourmet kitchen with a granite countertop, undermount sink, cabinets built to take advantage of the nine-foot principal-room ceilings, stainless-steel appliances, and backsplash -- either mirror or ceramic tile. "The counters look like furniture -- granite tables with stainless-steel legs," Mr. Switzer says.
He adds that suites feature "sliding barn doors" that can be opened so the living room and bedroom feel like one room, and then closed for privacy.
Hudson's floor-to-ceiling windows offer magnificent views. All suites include a balcony or terrace, and some have both.
The building also incorporates enhanced conduit infrastructure for high-speed Internet access.
Residents will enjoy round-the-clock concierge service, plus the extensive amenities of the more than 10,000-square-foot Gluckstein-designed Club Hudson. It includes a fitness facility with 16-foot-high ceilings, and media room opening out to a lushly landscaped roof garden.
Hudson's location is also a big draw, particularly for singles and young couples. Some of Toronto's best entertainment venues -- including the SkyDome, Air Canada Centre, Princess of Wales Theatre, Roy Thomson Hall and Harbourfront -- are close by, along with plenty of shopping and restaurants.
There's also cycling, jogging or in-line skating along the waterfront trail.
