Paving the way for condo car sharingJuly 19, 2003
Condo residents usually share a number of building amenities, so why not provide them with the option of sharing cars as well?
A recently launched downtown development is the first Toronto condominium to offer residents a "car-sharing" service.
Smart-card technology will allow residents of One Pinnacle Centre, located south of Lake Shore Blvd. between Bay and Yonge Sts., to access a fleet of vehicles kept on site for their exclusive, shared use.
"Many of the people who are going to live at Pinnacle Centre will be working downtown," says Michael De Cotiis, president of Vancouver-based developer Pinnacle International.
"So the location is really what drives this car-sharing program."
Pinnacle International announced last week it has reached an agreement with the GreenFleet Car Sharing Corp., based in Toronto, to make a pool of cars available to residents on One Pinnacle Centre.
Construction of the 37-storey condo, the first of four towers the developer plans for Pinnacle Centre, is expected to start next spring.
Occupancy is tentatively scheduled for November, 2005.
Under the agreement between Pinnacle and GreenFleet, the developer provides the on-site parking spaces and GreenFleet provides the vehicles and manages the car-sharing service, called DASHcar.
"It's environmentally friendly, it will help reduce the number of cars in the downtown of the city and for people who need a car once or twice a week, this is just ideal," says De Cotiis.
"Residents can just borrow a car for a few hours at a time, when they need it." For the source or full article, click here. |
Pinnacle offers luxury living on city waterfrontJuly 12, 2003
Pinnacle Centre, the newest condominium development planned for Toronto's central waterfront, is now open for preview sales appointments.
The 37-storey building is the first of four luxury condo towers Vancouver-based Pinnacle International ultimately plans for the development.
"Their style is very powerful, impressive towers," says Barbara Lawlor, senior vice-president of Baker Real Estate Corp., the exclusive listing agent for the project. "I think it's going to be the most exciting waterfront development Toronto has seen in years." Pinnacle Centre is planned on a 1.5-hectare site bordered by Bay, Yonge and Harbour Sts., south of Lake Shore Blvd. The location is close to downtown, the waterfront, Union Station, the Harbourfront LRT and the Gardiner Expressway.
"It's a particularly fabulous location. It's probably the last location of its kind in downtown Toronto, where the city and the waterfront are equally accessible," Lawlor says.
The glass and pre-cast concrete building is designed in the slim and elegant point-tower style.
"The architecture is very impressive. It's going to make a statement on the Toronto skyline," Lawlor says.
A five-storey podium at the tower's base will contain building amenities, some retail and an exclusive fitness and recreational centre.
The Pinnacle Club will have state-of-the-art fitness equipment, an 18-metre pool, aerobics room, saunas, whirlpool, his-and-hers changerooms as well as a tennis court, running track and outdoor putting green.
"It's a very upscale lifestyle," Lawlor says of the Pinnacle Centre. "These recreational amenities go hand and glove with that image and style."
Additional amenities include 24-hour concierge, lounge, entertainment area and billiard room.
The building's 450 units will range from 510 to 1,420 square feet. Suites are available in one-bedroom, one-bedroom plus den, two bedroom and two-bedroom plus den layouts. Penthouse suites will also be available.
Final prices have yet to be set, but start at $169,900. Maintenance fees are 35 cents per square foot.
Units will have designer kitchen cabinetry, a choice of granite or marble bathroom countertops, ensuite master bathrooms with separate shower stalls, walk-in closet and six appliances. Source |
